Cockchafer Beetle print

Finished print…but I may tweak further.

We recently moved to the Forest of Dean, and as much anticipated started getting the garden bug friendly, one night an early visitor was a Cockchafer Beetle.

I was really pleased (a bit gushing) as it swung about the garden in haphazard flight and landed on a branch just over head. I love beetles, but in this species the head dress really captivates the imagination, a natural design out of ancient and facinating times.

I’ve set up a spare room as a print studio, sounds rather romantic, but currently my barren is still the bottom of a paint pot and press was actually my body weight, still I was really please with the results and if I can find a paper merchant I can stop using my spare scraps.
